District of Columbia APSE: The Network on Employment

Mission

The District of Columbia APSE (DCAPSE): The Network on Employment, formerly the Association for Persons in Supported Employment (APSE), has developed a mission to improve and expand quality integrated employment opportunities, services, and outcomes for persons with disabilities.

Members of DCAPSE will actively work towards achieving its mission, as well as the national chapter’s mission. Although we have several goals, objectives, and activities, our primary goals are to:

• Advocate for individuals with the most significant disabilities;
• Increase paid and integrated work opportunities for consumers, including students with disabilities;
• Educate District of Columbians and others regarding supported employment and disability related issues;
• Educate the general public regarding supported employment and disability related issues; and
• Increase and maintain partnerships with individuals with disabilities, and their families, employers, providers, and other professionals committed to the lives of individuals with disabilities.

Vision

We envision that individuals of all types of disabilities, specifically those with the most significant disabilities, will be able to exercise their choice and have the option to participate in all aspects of life and obtain employment experiences and opportunities that are unique to their “strengths, skills, interests, and abilities.”
